Teacher Appreciation Week carries on. Mr. Smith has a degree in English from the University of Arkansas and a Master's degree from Southern Cal. He has been teaching for 3 years and also sponsors the FHS Student Council. "Mr. Smith has been an incredible teacher since the first day of school, showing my class compassion and understanding in our struggle through AP Lang, openly discussing mental health and the importance of breaks, and always bringing a great energy with humor and encouragement," said Heather Mason (11). #cardstudentsareworthit #teacherappreciationweek

Highlighting the kindness that our students show one another is important to the staff at FHS. Last week teachers captured moments when students were showing kindness to each other, and here is a video montage of some of those moments. From giving encouragement to classmates after a speech to cleaning up after bringing a Sonic drink to a friend, we recognize these students as models of kindness and generosity. https://bit.ly/33dxMcb

Teacher Appreciation Week day #2. Today we want to feature Mr. Slinkard. He has been teaching math in the district for years, so he's a regular around here. He also helps oversee mathematics at the Alternative Learning Academy for FSD. "He is kinda quirky, but in a fun way. He uses pretty cool math videos in class so that it's not boring all the time," said sophomore Emily Gurrola. We appreciate teachers like Mr. Slinkard so much and are excited to highlight some of them this week. #cardstudentsareworthit #teacherappreciationweek

It's Teacher Appreciation Week! Today administrators at FHS, Mr. Purifoy and Coach Harper, were up bright and early to provide a pancake breakfast for the staff at the high school. " I think it's awesome to have our administration cook for us. They came up here earlier than usual to cook and to show us how much we are appreciated," first year teacher Brian Dean said. Teacher Appreciation Week continues. Mrs. Dinsmore (formerly Selby, but she got married in March!) has been teaching at FHS for 15 years. She teaches on-level and AP history classes, is Department Chair for Social Studies, and sponsors FCA. "I like US History with Mrs. Dinsmore because it is a very hands on class. We do a lot of talking and working on different projects. It's not just taking notes but rather actually learning about history," said Rachel Thomason (11). #cardstudentsareworthit #teacherappreciationweek

Each year the Farmington High FFA provides the staff an opportunity to purchase ferns, hanging baskets, and other plants and flowers. Profits go towards summer leadership training for FFA members. "I love to buy my spring container annuals from the Farmington FFA. The students grow them from seed and plugs, making the flowers much healthier and longer-lasting than commercial nursery flowers," English teacher Jennifer Harp said. #cardstudentsareworthit #FFA #plants

For the safety of our students we are going to dismiss school at 1:30 today. The district was made aware of a protest near campus and the safety of our students is our top priority. #Cardstudentsareworthit

May 1, 2021 is National School Principals Day. Taking a single day to appreciate the administration who does so much for us every day doesn't feel like enough, but the staff at FHS couldn't be luckier to have such great leaders. AP Language and Composition teacher Belyn Rodgers said she "appreciates our administrators who continually work hard, provide help and give out high-fives to all of our students and staff. Whether it's planning ACT testing, pivoting to virtual days, or pushing through a global pandemic, our administrators lead the way to keep FHS striving for our best." Thank you Mr. Williams, Mr. Purifoy, and Coach Harper! #cardstudentsareworthit

Congratulations to our April Simple Simon's Cardinal of the Month at Farmington High School- 12th grader Jackson Stewart! #cardstudentsareworthit

Breaking News: Cupcake Wars 2021 is upon us. The annual contest held in Mrs. House's Food & Nutrition class requires student teams to plan, design, bake, decorate, & display cupcakes around a specified theme. This year's theme is 'summer.' Voting is anonymous so we have blurred out the image of one of the judges. This year's winning team baked from scratch, & word on the street is they were very delicious. Swipe to see the winning design created by Alex Terhune (12), Kaylee Thomas (12), Rivia Watson (11), Oswaldo Manjarrez (11), & Rachel Thomason (11). #cardstudentsareworthit

To celebrate National "Every Kid Healthy" Week, we want to highlight the importance of teaching proper health & nutrition to students. Senior Trinity Johnson explains, "As someone who has gone back & forth with my own nutrition habits, maintaining not only a good workout routine but also a good diet has really improved my focus in the classroom...The class that helped me understand the importance of the things you put in your body the most is Mrs. House's Food and Nutrition class." #cardstudentsareworthit #everykidhealthy
